Beauty through pain. These times that we are living in are filled with some of the most horrific chaos that any of us reading this have ever witnessed. When it feels like there is nowhere to turn to, some of us reach for the artists to comfort our souls as we wrap our minds and hearts around reality. It may be a book that you find solace in. It may be a song that always gets you through. What is truly wonderful about the arts, and the artists who create it, is that they tend to find their peace in creating something beautiful. These are the moments where our every day lives truly connect with the artists we love.

Angel is a Hollywood Cinematic Artist who has been impacted by several recent tragedies. She was inspired to create a short film music video after seeing the aftermath of two horrible acts of violence, the tragic shooting of Christina Grimme and the Manchester Arena Bombing at the Ariana Grande Concert. Angel resurrected the song Holding Out for a Hero written by Jim Steinman and Dean Pitchford (originally performed by Bonnie Tyler for the movie Footloose) and created a beautiful short film dedicated to the victims and us survivors.

I wanted to write, film and perform an emotive piece that would reflect the tragedy of this loss, from the victims perspective and how this cowardly act, affects us all!

The project is titled Hero. It is everything that is needed in these terrible times. It is a reminder to us that we are not alone in this. That we are all holding out for a hero till the morning light.

Extended Plays is an ongoing music series of all the music that I stumble upon. I listen to the music, go with my gut and spill my honest and sometimes brutal opinion all over this blog. I hope you take the time to check out the artists I review for yourselves. I tend to believe that I am always right about everything but the most beautiful thing about music is that my opinion doesn’t matter to anyone but myself.
