I am just going to put this out there right now. I am a sucker for a good break up anthem. Especially when it is sung by a female who punches you in the gut with every lyric. Aprilann’s latest release Crown and the Girls needs to be added to every female’s playlist who is going through a terrible break up. This simple yet powerful song will fit nicely in the ranks with Alanis Morresette’s You Oughta Know, Miley Cyrus’ Someone Else or Wrecking Ball, and Tove Lo’s Habits. The kind of songs you blast over and over as you go through the hate, the anger, the sadness of losing the one you thought loved you enough to stay.

When emotions are that extreme and all over the place, it is difficult to find any balance throughout your days. We need artists like Aprilann to put words and music to these moments. It’s music like this that can save someone’s sanity, even if it is only for the 3 minutes and 23 seconds that they listen to it. So, blast this song, listen to it till you know every word, and sing along till you feel empowered to take the next step.

I hope the crown and the girls were worth what we were. I hope the crown and the girls were worth it.

Here is the remix which is an even better version to turn all the way up.

Aprilann is wrapping up her EP which will premier this fall along with her song Not You and herself featured in the upcoming horror movie Johnny Gruesome. This is just the beginning for this talented beauty. I know I am looking forward to following her blossoming career.

Extended Plays is an ongoing music series of all the music that I stumble upon. I listen to the music, go with my gut and spill my honest and sometimes brutal opinion all over this blog. I hope you take the time to check out the artists I review for yourselves. I tend to believe that I am always right about everything but the most beautiful thing about music is that my opinion doesn’t matter to anyone but myself.
