If you are a fan of my blog then you might notice that I am quite partial to the Australian band Collegians. I have been following these guys for a while now and everything they release is amazing! This band has been teasing their fans with just a taste every few months. They first hit you with their single Vaccine which was religiously in rotation on my playlist for months. Then they released Black Mass which was so damn catchy that I still find it gloriously stuck in my head at the most random of times. Then, just when you think you can’t wait any longer, they throw down their third installment Killer and you get your fix.

In true Collegians form, this song hits you like a bat out of hell. It’s more haunting than its older siblings. It still has that deep-rooted electronic sound that their fans have come to love but somehow they have brought this dark melodic sound that just transforms as you take it in. It has been a long time since I have found a band that continuously writes songs that you instantly fall in love with. There is a hint of that Finnish Black Metal that even Ville Valo would find comforting yet there is something fresh and comforting about their sound. This band fits perfectly in my deep seeded gothic musical heart. This is rock. Metal. Damn good music. Exactly what the world has been missing.

Now I will sit and wait (im)patiently for what they have in store for us next…

Extended Plays is an ongoing music series of all the music that I stumble upon. I listen to the music, go with my gut and spill my honest and sometimes brutal opinion all over this blog. I hope you take the time to check out the artists I review for yourselves. I tend to believe that I am always right about everything but the most beautiful thing about music is that my opinion doesn’t matter to anyone but myself.
