Eric Anders and Mark O’Bitz have been working together off and on for years. Even after the years between projects, the two come together to produce beautiful music. Of All These Things is ten songs of truly beautiful Americana. The pair brings their influences and visions together to create an album that takes the listener somewhere serene, yet true. Anders and O’Bitz blend American folk with sounds that quiet the soul and lyrics that speak to the truths of life.

The album kicks off with the first track Below the Night. The vocals blend with a beautiful composition that sets the a meditative tone that continues throughout the album. Hold on to Me and New Life are a display what Anders and O’Bitz can do with Americana. Beautiful vocals and arrangement backed by just enough steel guitar to take you down the road. Eyes of Your Loves has a bit of an up tempo that could take this track to radio.

I Used to be Another has a feeling of expanse in its reflection. Listening is like hearing through a memory. Times Gone continues in that spacial exploration of the spirit. High to Low strums through the mind and down into a that slow tap. Anders and O’Bitz do this very well.

Together Must Be Found is about the reuniting power of love. The occasional accompaniment of strings is perfect. Just enough to make you feel what the song intends. Look into the Sun is a pick up of tempo. It is a father’s perspective of the times that pass in every day that are quickly lost. The songs lifts into an orchestral collision of intensity. This is my favorite track. Found my way home echoes with travel. The tone is perfect. Big yet humble in its simplicity.

For fans of of singer/songwriters, Of All These Things is a treat. Not only for the ear, but also for the soul. Anders and O’Bitz shine on this collaboration.

Extended Plays is an ongoing music series of all the music that I stumble upon. I listen to the music, go with my gut and spill my honest and sometimes brutal opinion all over this blog. I hope you take the time to check out the artists I review for yourselves. I tend to believe that I am always right about everything but the most beautiful thing about music is that my opinion doesn’t matter to anyone but myself.
