The foursome comes to us from the L.A. scene with a new single “Ridiculous.” Already having produced an EP Sunken City, the band is talented and fun.

The vocals of Audrey Reed are well done and blend with the music. She owns her words and lets them flow with ease. Her voice is well balanced; never being overwhelmed by a band very capable of free form jamming. The guitar work is efficient and effective. The bass backing and drum beats blend well.

The lyrics are well written and each song tells a story. At times, I heard a bit of No Doubt but no single influence dominates. Every band comes from another one before. Mleo never became a cover band. I will say there is nothing like them on the radio today.

The main thing I felt from the new single “Rediculous” is that the band is preparing to make their move. The guitar work on this song is good. At one point, it feels like a poppy a Tom Morello rhythm/solo. The song is definitely a radio ready effort.

This band has potential. “Ridiculous” shows they are close to realizing it fully.

Extended Plays is an ongoing music series written by myself and my partner Lizzy. We listen to music, go with our gut and spill our honest and sometimes brutal opinion all over this blog. We hope you take the time to check out the artists we review for yourselves. We tend to believe that we are always right about everything but the most beautiful thing about music is that our opinion doesn’t matter to anyone but ourselves.
