I am always impressed when a band finds a way to feel nostalgic and new at the same time. I was recently introduced to The Soft Underground and I was instantly taken back to my days of flannel shirts and wallet chains. They have hints of the 90’s Seattle Grunge mixed with a bit of the 80’s New Wave scene that reminded me of every band I saw in the basement of our local VFW as a teenager. Yet, in the same moment, I was blown away by their unique sound. It was a beautiful conflict of music pouring through me.

After a little exploration, I found that this duo builds these fantastic songs and then handpicks different singers to create the perfect song. I love when musicians make up their own rules. I will leave you with a taste called Ghosts. Their LP Morning World comes out on July 27th and I personally cannot wait.

Extended Plays is an ongoing music series of all the music that I stumble upon. I listen to the music, go with my gut and spill my honest and sometimes brutal opinion all over this blog. I hope you take the time to check out the artists I review for yourselves. I tend to believe that I am always right about everything but the most beautiful thing about music is that my opinion doesn’t matter to anyone but myself.
