The walls we build up around us after heartbreak are hard ones to break down. Believing in the wrong someone and letting your guard down can lead to devastation. After a while, it is just easier to stop trying. Stop caring. ZALI’s single Girls Like Us is the soundtrack to all the women who were sick of getting their hearts trampled on. Done with the power play that bad relationships turn in to.

Girls like us don’t love. Girls like us don’t trust. Girls like us just want fun. All we wanna do is just……..

Girls Like Us’ for me is an anthem to girls everywhere to just let go and be. After previously recording the track earlier in the year, I went back into the Studio to re-record the track after just recently going through some heartbreak to really capture every emotion I was feeling and ‘Girls Like Us’ to me was a reaffirmation that I will be okay. And that there are no rules, except living my best life for me. What I want with my music is to create a bond between me and my listeners through our shared experiences. -ZALI

Her sweet vocals sing the words we are all screaming inside. She gives us a voice. She gives us our power back. The song builds up slowly to a ‘how do you like me now?’ moment. It’s beautiful. It’s sad. It’s more real than most of the music out there. It is now a permanent part of my daily playlist.

Extended Plays is an ongoing music series of all the music that I stumble upon. I listen to the music, go with my gut and spill my honest and sometimes brutal opinion all over this blog. I hope you take the time to check out the artists I review for yourselves. I tend to believe that I am always right about everything but the most beautiful thing about music is that my opinion doesn’t matter to anyone but myself.
