A true testament to a musician is the influence they have on future generations and genres of music. When a musician can find their own sound and still pay homage to the music that paved the road for them, its magic. Populuxe has done a beautiful job at creating just that. Their sound is unique but as you move through their music, you can’t help but pick out the musicians that have obviously inspired them. Bowie, Queens of the Stone Age, Beck, Stone Temple Pilots, and a perfect unison of tidbits from the 60’s and 70’s funk/rock music that we all know and still love. Their new album Lumiere is one of those albums that you can just put on and listen all the way through. There isn’t a single song that I didn’t truly enjoy. I hope that this album is proof that Populuxe is nowhere done feeding us with ear candy because we can never have enough bands like them.
