Stephen King’s It remake.

With all the remakes in the last decade, Stephen King’s It looks like the most promising remake to date. Last year True Detectives was the most surprising show on television. It displayed all the elements of true horror, done perfectly. We are in good hands with True Detectives and future It director Cary Fukunaga!

The idea is to start official prep in March for a summer shoot [in 2015]. Cary likes to develop things for a while, and we’ve been with this for about three or four years, so we’re super excited that he stayed with it. You guys are gonna be really excited.

It is about a group of outsiders-turned-friends living in Derry, Maine, in the 1950’s where they encounter and are terrorized by a shape-shifting supernatural creature. Thirty years later as adults they learn Pennywise is back.

Now, let’s get into the casting for “Pennywise the Dancing Clown”. The television adaptation of It, in retrospect, was kind of dull. The one thing that stood out in the film was the casting of Pennywise.

Do you hate Clowns? Tim Curry is most likely to blame!

Can Cary Fukunaga cast Pennywise to match the performance of Tim Curry?

Yes. And the answer is Michael Shannon!

And here is why…

1. Michael Shannon has the ability to be funny and scary at the same time (Revolutionary Road). Tim Curry gave us a performance that scared us, yet we wanted to laugh. So will Michael!

 2. Michael Shannon can step into a role and not be intimidated by it. Like with Zod. He has already proven he’s not scared to tackle a role immortalized by another actor.

Man of Steel

3. The man looks good in makeup and he can still spook the shit out of kids like he did in “The Runaways”.

The Runaways

4. He makes one hell of a villain!

5. Because he is Michael f*cking Shannon! He is an Actor. Capital A. This man can hold himself as a lead behind a camera and on stage!

Who would you want to see play Pennywise?
