The beautiful thing about music is that it is not required to stick to trends. Especially when that music is just plain good stuff. Lucky 757 play surf rock and they are damn good at what they do. Spanish Shore is the first single off their forthcoming LP Lonesome Lagoon out tomorrow. Following in a tradition of the likes of Dick Dale, the guitar-driven genre does not allow for the mediocre player. Lucky 757 deliver. The sound is somewhere between haunting and carefree. There is no doubt that these guys respect the genre. The guitar sings the words of the song. You can feel the emotions pouring from the strings. With a band the quality of Lucky 757, it is easy to see why the genre is much alive and well respected by musicians and fans alike.

Extended Plays is an ongoing music series of all the music that I stumble upon. I listen to the music, go with my gut and spill my honest and sometimes brutal opinion all over this blog. I hope you take the time to check out the artists I review for yourselves. I tend to believe that I am always right about everything but the most beautiful thing about music is that my opinion doesn’t matter to anyone but myself.
